They Don’t Want You Engaged (6/27/2024)

If there’s one point I’ve been making more than any other since immersing myself in South Carolina politics, it is the following. This state has a tremendous problem with false, fake republicans. RINOs if you will. South Carolina is not nearly as red as most believe it is. I’ve been trying to spread the word about this by any means possible, through my writing and social media. Sadly, South Carolina has a blazing red population, yet it only turns out 40% conservative legislation.

We have a great group of people in the state house dubbed the Freedom Caucus who stand on Constitutional values, and it would appear after Tuesday’s primary runoffs that they will be expanding their number. But it’s still not enough. Just about all of the rest of the other self-serving “republican” representatives are controlled by big money and special interests. This is how a majority of them continue to get reelected.

I was listening to a Charlie Kirk podcast from June 25, and he was being interviewed by Donald Trump Junior on the heels of the release of his new book, “Right Wing Revolution.” They were talking about the weakness of the Republican party and Charlie referred to a chapter in his book called “Curing Red State Laziness.” After talking about how the party doesn’t take action, how they have weak leadership and attorney generals who don’t fight, and how we are the majority in the country, Don Jr. said “Some of the most conservative states in the entire union have literally the weakest conservative leadership at their helm, and I never figured that out, I don’t understand it. You can run a great America First patriot, and the Washington, D.C. pseudo-democrat that just has an R next to his name, is functioning like a democrat.”

Charlie Kirk then made an incredibly keen observation. “If your state is too red, democrats, like actual democrats, not rinos, run as republicans because there’s no chance that democrats get elected. You take states where you should have great representation, like Kentucky, or Texas, or Idaho, and you get some of the most moderate senators that you can imagine that are effectively democrats. However, when states are not that right wing, and you have to compete, you actually get better representatives.” He went on to describe Ron Johnson and J.D. Vance, two of our most conservative senators in states that lean red but aren’t blazing. He made the following statement as well: “We must hold our republicans to a higher standard.”

Folks, this is exactly what we have here in South Carolina. The Freedom Caucus are up against big money and special interests. And it’s why I just wrote to Charlie Kirk, since obviously he gets it. Hopefully, he can use the information to reach larger audiences.

A few weeks ago, Reese Boyd III (who believes he is the chair of the Horry County Republican party – he is not, more on that later) said in a speech that we are “solidly red.” Nothing could be further from the truth. They just don’t want you to think it. They don’t want you to do what I did, which is commit the crime of noticing. If more people tuned in, the rino coalition would be in big trouble, so they want you to tune out. “Don’t worry, it’s all good here, no reason to be involved.” They don’t want you engaged. They don’t want to be held to a higher standard.
