The Tragedy of Mass Shootings and Embracing Solutions
If there’s one thing the left loves, it’s a mass shooting.
That comment may be met with outrage, but I do not care because it is true. It’s proven over and over again. I pains me once again to write about a mass shooting, as I’ve done so many times before. The loss of life always makes me stop, pray, and thank God for my life and those I love. I always pray for the families who cannot make that claim. Then, once the smoke clears, it’s time to embrace solutions. And only one side actually wants to do that.
I say the left loves when these things occur because they prove it by the immediate politicization of every single one of them. They are quick to attack the second amendment, without which more of these tragedies would occur. Think about it. Telling criminals and violent actors where there will be no resistance (E.G. “Gun Free Zone signs) is almost like an invitation. This is the exact reason violence is higher in blue cities. Not only does the left attack gun rights, but they are also quick to profile the shooter, especially if that shooter fits a certain profile. Identity politics are their game, and everything has to be broken down into race, sex, sexual orientation, etc. I could only imagine the main offices of CNN, ABC, NBC, MSN, and other fake news networks while little was known about the shooter. They were probably sitting there hoping the shooter was a white, straight Trump supporter. Well, they didn’t get their wish this time, as is usually the case. No way they can spin this one. Just like the first assassination attempt, they tried to spin it that the guy was a republican, which wasn’t really the case. This time, it was a delusional trans leftist who hated President Trump, a man pretending to be a woman. He had the words “Kill Donald Trump” written on one of the magazines used in the shooting. Now that this information is known, this story will disappear from the mainstream media faster than light fills a room. Either that or they will just focus on guns, which, last I checked, do not shoot themselves. No amount of gun control would have prevented this. The fact that these things keep happening despite that proves the left is not serious about finding solutions. The sacrifice of life is worth it to them to be able politicize the issue. They want these events to occur so they can feign outrage as they always do.
Contrarily, I find it easier to put my head on the pillow at night being on the side that actually wants these shootings to stop. Conservatives understand that gun control doesn’t work. We want to embrace solutions that do. Mental health awareness is a huge part of why these things happen. Research on mental illness needs to be furthered. Treatments should be made available. I’m not a scientist, but this would be a start. Conservatives are also for putting security guards or retired police officers in schools and even churches. Just think of what that would prevent. Just knowing someone else is around to defend will thwart many shootings.
Last but not least, values begin at home. So many parents these days are not teaching their children values, and this is something that cannot be legislated. Too many parents are not focused on parenting – they would rather be their kid’s friend. There is a time and a place for that, but it is not during their formative years. Values and respect are still out there today, but they seem to be fewer and further between than they used to. That needs to change.
Both sides know this is a big problem – I hope everyone can realize what true solutions look like and can work together to not only acknowledge them, but to put them into effect. I hope I never have to see another mass shooting in my lifetime. I pray for it.
