A Disappointing Evening (6/15/2022)
Last night was disappointing on so many levels. I'm not just talking about Russell Fry, the least conservative candidate in the congressional race, who got in because Trump made a terrible endorsement. This is the last I'll speak on that since the primary is over and he's still better than a democrat. Probably.
More locally, it was a good night if you're part of the damn swamp. So many politicians that barely even campaigned won local races because they were the cabal's chosen one and dirty money funded their campaigns. They have resources, we do not.
Kathy Maness and Ellen Weaver are in a runoff for state superintendent of education. I heard of neither of them until two weeks ago.
Jenna Dukes, bought and paid for, took out incumbent Howard Worley. She has ties to big pharma.
Bill Howard, the tax and spend goon, beat Dean Richardson.
Tom Anderson, another person nobody heard of, won District 7, but at least Orton Bellamy, who is really a democrat, is gone.
District 8 will be a runoff between Mikey Mash and Brandon Skipper.
Mark Lazarus, who sold out Myrtle Beach to the Chinese, got 39% of the vote, but at least Johnny Gardner, the people's chair, forced a runoff. We need to get out there and vote for him on the 28th. The way the county council is shaping up, everyone's taxes are about to go up, and by no small amount.
Almost nobody running for school board that were fighting the swamp won, all of them were up against bigger money and influence. Wellons may have been the only exception.
Let's not forget statewide offices. Musselwhite got 16%. Blandford got 24. Martel got 33. These were the outsiders fighting the swamp. None of their opponents really ran, and they all won easily.
South Carolina is not this big red beacon that so many believe it is. 34th in the nation in conservative voting, hardly anything to boast about. We need to wake more people up to that fact. Just because there is an R after someone's name does not mean they act accordingly.
Local action equals national impact. That's why I'm involved. That's why we need to get more people involved. It's because so many people do not engage in their communities that we get people in office like all the ones I mentioned above.
Indeed, last night was a big blow. But it will only strengthen my resolve.
