Vote Against the City’s Corruption
The city of Myrtle Beach is even more corrupt than I originally thought.
Last night, at one of the final campaign events before election day, I heard the most obnoxious, corrupt thing ever. I’ve been pretty vocal, both on social media and on this blog, that I am supporting Mark McBride for mayor of Myrtle Beach. Mark has been posting videos to social media daily pointing out corruption, special interests, and other happenings that the current administration and the chamber of commerce do not want you to know about. At last night’s event, McBride mentioned that the location was outside the city limits, and another event I attended last week was outside those limits as well. When I asked him why, he said if he had done it inside city limits, there would be retribution for the business from the city if he does not win next week. He went on to say the last time he ran for mayor, he had a campaign office. When the election was over, the city went in, audited business accounts, business licenses, went through the building to make sure all the code was enforced, went through the owner’s properties (he had properties throughout the city), checked his grass to make sure it was cut to a certain length, etc. Long story short, the city went after his supporter because he was his supporter.
This is the type of behavior that Mark McBride wants to put an end to. The swamp that President Trump talks about is not limited to national political figures. We’ve seen it here with the GOP Pirates conniving to take over the party when their power was stripped, we’ve seen it with house candidates getting big corrupt money to keep their positions to be a rubber stamp for the chamber, and now this. In one of Mark’s previous videos, he mentioned that the city once banned alcohol in a certain area to run a business out. When they were forced to leave, the city opened a brewery. This is what the swamp does. Mark McBride is the ONLY mayoral candidate seeking to actually drain the swamp, put an end to corruption, and reduce the crime rate.
Myrtle Beach, in the last few years, has been getting attention for all the wrong reasons – people are actually referring to it as Murder Beach. Crime is up drastically. The city is $330 million in debt. As a result, tourism is down. The Chamber tries to hide these numbers and statistics, but if they were positive, they’d be plastered all over the place. It’s time for change. It’s time to drain the swamp. Brenda Bethune, the queen of special interests (worth over $100 million, by the way), must go. We need a candidate not seeking to profit from the position. Mark McBride is that candidate.
