Conservatism: Fighting the Left AND the Establishment
Conservatism is an uphill battle. Those of us who are active, in one form or another, have experienced this. This experience is multifaceted, as we are fighting both the left and the establishment, which in many cases is just as bad, or possibly worse.
Liberalism is the easy road. The path of least resistance, if you will. The desire for bigger government is simple – all you have to do is act and think the way you are told to. Obey. The conservative does not need government to do their thinking for them, which is why they desire less of it. The left, often full of keyboard warriors, like to refer to supporters of President Trump as a cult. But in reality, a place no leftist lives, the antithetical is true. Cultists are people who blindly follow their leaders or blindly follow a cause. They could not possibly desire smaller government. If this were a Venn diagram, conservatism and cultism would be two independent circles with no overlap. Conservatives actually need to think for themselves, and they choose to. When we see big government corruption, we stand up against it. When we see hordes of people burning down cities and assaulting police, we stand up against it. When we are told we have to accept an attitude, such as the murder of babies in the womb, we stand against it. Conservatism takes nerve. It takes courage. It takes going against the grain. The difference between the two sides could not be more stark, and the gap is widening.
Fighting the establishment is less cut and dry. At least we know what liberals are. They wear it on their sleeves. The establishment is full of fakery. Phony people acting like they are on the side of righteousness and truth when they are not. This is something that has become much more apparent to me since I moved. Since South Carolina is such a red state, there are many areas where Democrats cannot get elected. The solution? Do what state senator Luke Rankin did. Switch your party and run as a Republican while not changing the way you vote or represent the people. South Carolina is often referred to as the “bluest red state” in the nation, and with good reason. It turns out very little conservative legislation, and the reason is because the politicians are pulling the wool of the eyes of their constituents. It’s the reason we get people like Lindsey Graham, with his lifetime 43% conservative voting record. These people would run as Democrats if this was a blue state. They would have to. These people go wherever the winds are blowing, which takes no courage whatsoever. We conservatives fight uphill battles consistently, while they support the candidates with the most money. The ones with the biggest PACs. The ones who are the most easily controllable. They sacrifice their morals and their souls to back people with political power. The citizens are merely an afterthought.
The reason this is coming up now is because these shills of the establishment are viciously backing Lindsey Graham in our primary, which is now less than one month away. It is being felt now. If you point out the truth to these people, you are viciously attacked and slandered. But it’s funny, because these people can never seem to defend the records of their candidates. I am hoping this primary finally breaks the cycle. Then perhaps we can close the primaries and stop them from electing the closest thing to a Democrat on the Republican ballot (in this case, Lindsey Graham).
Conservatism is on the rise in this state, and in most of the country. The establishment hates it. It’s time to send them packing.
